这句话的语法分析

老师，这句话怎么理解啊，能不能帮我分析一下语法。

我有个大概的印象，是不是指其实这个旅人和商人一起吃饭，是个偶然，然后他给同桌吃饭的商人带去的国家印象可能是不真实的？这个商人干嘛要用wily 狡猾的来形容啊？看到现在我最喜欢这篇课文啦，描写十分细致。

第十课The Tenth Man的最后一句" They had no means of comparison and assumed that this was a characteristic of his class, just as a traveller stepping off the liner at a foreign port for luncheon sums up a nation's character forever in the wily businessman who happens to share the table with him. "

"When his time came to draw there were only three slips left, and it appeared to Chavel a monstrous injustice that there were so few choices left for him. He drew one out of the shoe and then feeling certain that this one had been willed on him by his companions and contained the penciled cross he threw it back and snatched another."

另外，还有一个问题：这句话里面的had been willed on him是什么意思啊，will好像做了动词？

They had no means of comparison and assumed that this was a characteristic of his class 是整个句子的核心句。
just as.....引导的是从句，意思是“正如...".
as引导的从句中”a traveller stepping off the liner at a foreign port for luncheon"是主语，一个在异国港口下船吃饭的旅行者。
“sums up a nation's character in the wily businessman" 是从句中的谓语，从这个商人身上总结出这个国家的国民性格。
"who happens to..."是定于从句，修饰"the wily businessman"。碰巧一起吃饭的商人。

will这里是动词。will sth. on sb. 意思是用意志力把...强加给某人。
